{"id":1066,"date":"2012-09-30T10:56:33","date_gmt":"2012-09-30T15:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/politicalqrm.com\/?p=1066"},"modified":"2012-09-30T10:56:33","modified_gmt":"2012-09-30T15:56:33","slug":"good-ol-fashion-mudslinging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/politicalqrm.com\/?p=1066","title":{"rendered":"Good Ol&#8217; Fashion&#8217; Mudslinging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Can I ask a favor of you?<br \/>\nLet me backdrop it a bit&#8230;John Stossel 1 wrote a piece some time ago about how we, as politically minded individuals, (as well as candidates themselves), have resorted to mudslinging and muck-raking. \u00a0Carrying it, at times, to lofty&#8230;almost ethereal heights&#8230;or would that be bottomless-pit-depths?<br \/>\nWe, as teenagers \u201cback-in-the-day\u201d when \u201ctagging\u201d2 each other, had a rule. \u00a0That rule was \u201cNO MOTHERS\u201d. \u00a0Insults involving another guy\u2019s mother were verboten. \u00a0Today\u2019s political arena has become a minefield that STARTS with a candidate\u2019s mother and rolls downhill from there.<br \/>\nNow&#8230;the \u201cfavor\u201d.<br \/>\nCan YOU, my friend, refrain from such ignominious behavior?<br \/>\nIt pains me deeply to see an otherwise well-placed litany of issues against President Obama \u00a0peppered with \u201ctags\u201d such as \u201cOBUMMER\u201d. \u00a0While I really don\u2019t like the fellow either, he IS the President of the United States of America. \u00a0References to the First Lady as \u201cthe first cow\u201d? \u00a0Disgraceful. \u00a0Period. \u00a0Blog-rolls and fora littered with the rantings of apparent (sic) fifth-graders as opposed to educated and erudite electors?<br \/>\nWe had no problem decrying that sort of behavior from the Left when our presidents were in office. \u00a0Why should we, who like to think of ourselves as \u201ccut from finer cloth\u201d, resort to that sort of \u201cmuck\u201d? \u00a0Why should we post to blogs with badly spelled, punctuated and composed rants when we want to be heard as \u201cabove\u201d it all?<br \/>\nListen, I am not saying that we should be following the Marquis of Queensbury rules in a street-fight. \u00a0I am one who FIRMLY believes that we NEED to go in bare-knuckled&#8230;but not to the septic tank! \u00a0A little bit of integrity, honor, and erudition however, go a long way.<br \/>\nSo please, dear reader&#8230;write with your head and not with your knee. \u00a0We\u2019ll all stand just a bit taller for it. \u00a0\u00a0Or, ARE ye then, a PROLE?<\/p>\n<p>1 <a href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/2020\/Stossel\/\">http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/2020\/Stossel\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>2 \u201cTagging\u201d was an artform of insults common to teenaged boys throughout history. \u00a0Sometimes refered to \u201cslipfighting\u201d, \u201cchopfighting\u201d or \u201cdissing\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>3 Pardon the fact that this software doesn&#8217;t support superscript.<\/p>\n<p>4 \u00a0Yes, I know, I didn&#8217;t point to a four. \u00a0But&#8230;if you&#8217;re here, you&#8217;ll get it. \u00a0Yes, it IS sort-of kind-of almost a veiled-ish pejorative. \u00a0It could HAPPEN&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can I ask a favor of you?
