{"id":1070,"date":"2012-10-24T17:11:33","date_gmt":"2012-10-24T22:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/politicalqrm.com\/?p=1070"},"modified":"2012-10-24T17:11:33","modified_gmt":"2012-10-24T22:11:33","slug":"a-next-to-last-minute-plea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/politicalqrm.com\/?p=1070","title":{"rendered":"A &#8220;next-to-last-minute&#8221; plea."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I notice things. \u00a0Not in a \u201cCSI\u201d way, but ordinary daily \u201cstuff\u201d. \u00a0Especially when it\u2019s a part of who I am. \u00a0I cannot hear aircraft in my vicinity without looking up to see what it is. \u00a0I cannot hear a Harley going by without at least a glance. \u00a0Same goes for political signs and stickers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUp heah\u201d in my area of Maine there are far more Obama stickers than there are for Romney. \u00a0Now, you would think I would be concerned by that, and many of you locally would say that isn\u2019t accurate.<\/p>\n<p>Of course it is. \u00a0I\u2019ll tell you why.<\/p>\n<p>The why of it all is that I am still seeing a marked preponderance of stickers for Ron Paul.* \u00a0All by themselves. \u00a0Not covered by, or even next to, a Romney sticker. \u00a0A Ron Paul sticker is, at this point in time, a de facto Obama sticker.<\/p>\n<p>New Englanders\u2019 stubborn individualism, in the mix of reasons to move here, was not ranked low on the list. \u00a0It is reminiscent of the old meme: \u201cMy mind\u2019s made up, don\u2019t confuse me with the facts\u201d. \u00a0MANY Mainers are STILL committed to voting for Ron Paul. \u00a0\u201cAyuh. \u00a0He\u2019s the man foah the job\u201d. \u00a0In MANY ways, I cannot argue with that. \u00a0Some of you may remember that I was NOT an early supporter of Mitt Romney,(D-MA). \u00a0I CAN, however, argue that the CURRENT president is NOT \u201cthe man foah the job\u201d, but that same Maine-granite-determination WILL put him back in that office if you insist on voting for Ron Paul!<\/p>\n<p>A study was cited on the news not long ago that third party candidates have never, (combined&#8230;), garnered more than ten percent of the popular vote. \u00a0Not Anderson, not Perot, not Nader&#8230;NONE. \u00a0Not green, workers, socialists, communists or any other parties. \u00a0Combined.<\/p>\n<p>Ron Paul cannot and will not win. \u00a0As well, he can not and will not be a significant drain from the Democrat party\u2019s vote tally. \u00a0He will, however, be draining votes from the party running AGAINST socialism, communism and totalitarianism&#8230;ahem&#8230;I MEANT the Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>In all of the years that I have been voting I have nigh never missed my chance&#8230;(well&#8230;once. \u00a0It was a school board election in a town I had only lived in for a few days and stayed in for only a few months&#8230;), at not only exercising my RIGHT to vote, but the moral, social and civic responsibility to vote. \u00a0I am of the \u201cif you don\u2019t vote you can\u2019t belly-ache\u201d school of thought. \u00a0I have NEVER told anyone to NOT vote. \u00a0Au contrere, I have been harping on people for the greater part of my life to register and vote!
