The Republican Main Street Partnership, (RMSP) is alive and well and kicking (the conservatives in the butt).

The RMSP is basically a bunch of RINOs who have banded together to thwart any steps by Conservative Republicans from achieving what the American people elected them to accomplish. They brand themselves as moderates. Centrists. Willing to work on both sides of the aisle. The “voice of reason.” Yes, I’ve heard that before.

The Tuesday Group – a group of Centrist Republicans that meet every Tuesday for lunch is back on track, and New Hampshire’s own Congressman Charlie Bass is right in there with them. He was past President of the RMSP and he is very proud of his part in this organization.

In a recent Washington Post article, Bass said “”There’s a misperception” that the new Republicans in Congress are all conservative and all political neophytes, Bass said in a recent interview. “To say that the freshman class is a ‘tea party class’ I think oversimplifies the unique qualifications of a lot of these members.”

Read the article here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/01/17/AR2011011703963.html

Interesting word usage : “oversimplify.” What did he mean by that? Is he of the opinion that RMSP members are more diverse in their thinking, whereas Tea Party members are all about one issue or their thinking is more simplistic? Tsk, tsk, Charlie, your condescension is showing…

Instead of working together, it looks as if the new members are going to be fighting the RINOs as well as the Dems.

The reality of it is moderates are people who don’t have the guts to take a stand on any issue and allow themselves the leeway to lean one way or another. Well, that’s fine if you’re a tree in a hurricane, but it doesn’t behoove a member of the United States Congress.

Now, if anyone remembers the commercials that Charlie Bass ran before the general election, he stated that he was a fiscal conservative. But 2 days after he won the primary against a real conservative, Jennifer Horn, he published an article on the RMSP website lauding the centrists for their influence in passing the latest financial bill. Okay, so he states he’s a fiscal conservative as a means to get elected , yet noting the action of the Republican centrists that helped Obama slam Americans with another bailout bill? Amazing. Is anyone else noticing the hypocrisy between both actions? Does the word disingenuous come to mind?

From the article in the Washington Post “The key to keeping moderates in office, centrist lawmakers said, will be for the leadership to recognize that every district is different and to refrain from forcing lawmakers from tough districts into votes they can’t defend back home”.
Translation: “God forbid they would ever have to go on the carpet in front of the people who they are beholden to. Perish the thought! Don’t you like me?”
And this is why this country is in the economic, national security, and social mess we are in. People who can’t take a true stand are thwarting the actions of those who can.

So, in our little corner of America, New Hampshire now knows that Charlie Bass has not changed; he’s still the same slinky moderate he has always been.

And yes, he will be one of the Congressmen who has a date for Obama’s third State of the Union Speech.

Kumbaya, folks.

Well, it looks as if the moderate Republicans have cast off the mantle of conservatism they used to get elected and shown their true selves.
