Change and hope…

Anyone who has known me for more than five minutes knows that I don’t like change. I still make gravy the way my family has for generations. I still wear a D.A. I haven’t switched to Windows 10.

And my “earworm” today is that great hit by the Temptations – “Ball of Confusion” – and the band played on.

THAT said…I think we need some, now, as a nation. A new bill to “repeal and replace” the ACA will be introduced tomorrow morning. The correct legislative term for this is “oil smoke and mirrors”. The crisis that manifested in our healthcare system as of 15 – 20 years ago was created, caused and exacerbated by government involvement in our lives in the first place. But the GOP establishment sees it as a way to suck some of the wind out of Trump’s sails.
I predicted his appearance, (okay, not necessarily HIM, but, a horse like him), in the waning days of the last election cycle. In line with what Reagan said, “If you can’t make them see the light, make them feel the heat”, I knew that someone had to step up and grab the GOP by it’s legs and hold their feet to the fire. THIS Mr. Trump, (and to some extent, Dr. Carson), has done.
I ALSO, though, predicted that the aforementioned horse would bail out before the primaries, questions asked, waves made, We The People sufficiently awakened. So far, (with the first primary mere days away), the second half of my Nostradamus impersonation has fallen to error.
So maybe “change” is the wrong way to put this. Maybe we should remember what it was like to have to walk over and CHANGE the channel on our TV sets. Maybe we should walk it back.
