Wow, Millennials!
Begging the pardon of our regular readers…I know this may seem more than the usual “characteristically” disjointed. I am, however, trying to get this out and put it someplace so as to gain a broader following.
I had a record 121 “notifications” on my Facebook page today in just under 8 hours. Gotta sleep sometime, A couple of people asked / posted / posited / etc. some issues that I can’t address in a small space; let alone 140 characters.
Firstly, I was questioned on “the establishment” of the Republican Party. The GOP. As “governed” by the Republican National Committee under the watch of one Mr. Reince Preibus.
I wrote a piece here several years ago mourning the death of the “Grand OLD Party”. Yes. It got old. The party of Lincoln was killed by Anno Domini. It got old and senile, and then, dementia set in. Gone were the days of those who were strident Constitutionalists. Gone were the Individualists. Gone were the days of limited government. Instead, we got the dementia of “bi-partisanship”. The term “compromise” was demented from willing to engage in classic give-and-take negotiation to a sense that one’s own values were less important than gaining favor. To quote Margaret Thatcher, “If you set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing”. This speaks to me today. It speaks to me of an optimist! The “Republican establishment”, by way of “compromise” has caused a regression in our rights. Of our standing on the world stage 1. Our own liberties.
They have the ability to cause these events to happen solely by virtue of the fact that they are, indeed, the establishment. They are the machine. The apparatus. The “board of directors”. Movers and shakers need not apply, except in the case of a useful characteristic…Jindal of Louisiana, by virtue of his S. Asian descent joins after proving his obeisance to the big board as do many others of female, African American, Latino or any other useful, (usurpable), trait.
It is time for a grand NEW party. Not just of Lincoln, but of Jefferson and Madison. A new Democratic-Republican Party. (I’m trying to help, here, but SOME research I’m going to make you do for yourself). A party that believes in the Divinely granted rights of ALL people everywhere. THIS would be a party that, were it to fly, would be unstoppable. Any person with thinking skills finely tuned enough to keep their hands off the stove would be on board with it because it uses the Constitution as the single deciding factor in your own position on the planet. Ain’t nuthin’ wrong wit dat!
Moving on to the questions, or actually premises, of another post…I summed it up in a reply column, but…can you see how this fits as it pertains to things like Gay marriage? Women’s rights? The rights given, according to our founding documents, by G/d. Not the Christian G/d, (although most people believe that to be at least implied), Not Ahura Mazda. Not Rama. Not Odin. Not the Wiccan Lord & Lady. Not Satan. Not the White Buffalo Woman, but G/D. ALL. Akasha. The Void. The One. G/d. EVEN IF the G/d in question is, for you, science! (Yes, I HAD TO use the exclamation).
I hope, folks, that I was able to cast a wide and diffuse light on the issue at hand and I DO promise to expound on these issues further in the not too distant future. I am also still available here, on most social media and by e-mail.
