Article 85.

Some time ago former president Obama PRAISED then US Army Sgt Beaudry Robert Bergdahl for serving “with honor and distinction”. We LOST 6 MEN and a Combat DOG, (a claim disputed by (E-9 Type) CSM Ken Wolf who, in Stars & Stripes, said ““It doesn’t hold water because you’re in a very bad neighborhood regardless. You can get killed any day”.** ) There’s NO point of disagreement that the former POTUS DID, however, TRADE FIVE PRISONERS from GITMO for the S.O.B. who claimed he was “treated better” by the TALIBAN than by US! Makes me wonder how TWENTY TWO disabled HONORABLE veterans who COMMIT SUICIDE waiting for HELP from our Department of Veterans’ Affairs feel about it. The COUNTLESS who panhandle, sleep on sidewalks, are addicted to drugs and alcohol or have criminal issues related to the PTSD they suffer from BEING THERE instead of WALKING AWAY. I wonder how they’ll feel about how much money he stands to make on his BOOK DEAL and the attendant MOVIE RIGHTS?

I don’t want to put too fine a point on this, but…Aww, the Hell with it. YES I DO. To Wit:

UCMJ SS10 Article 85. DESERTION.

(a) Any member of the armed forces who–
(1) without authority goes or remains absent from his unit, organization, or place of duty with intent to remain away therefrom permanently;
(2) quits his unit, organization, or place of duty with intent to avoid hazardous duty or to shirk important service; or
(3) without being regularly separated from one of the armed forces enlists or accepts an appointment in the same or another on of the armed forces without fully disclosing the fact that he has not been regularly separated, or enters any foreign armed service except when authorized by the United States; is guilty of desertion.

(b) Any commissioned officer of the armed forces who, after tender of his resignation and before notice of its acceptance, quits his post or proper duties without leave and with intent to remain away therefrom permanently is guilty of desertion.

(c) Any person found guilty of desertion or attempt to desert shall be punished, if the offense is committed in time of war, by death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct, but if the desertion or attempt to desert occurs at any other time, by such punishment, other than death, as a court-martial may direct.
(BOLD = MINE)

When I WAS in the service of the United States, DESERTION was NOT considered “honor & distinction”. It was considered TREASON. It was punishable by DEATH. Left unto me, I would RIP the stripes from his sleeves, the ribbons and Combat Infantryman’s Badge, (THE SAME ONE I WORE), his Infantry brass WITH the crests of the venerable 501st Infantry Regiment AND his Infantry fouragerre. I’d replace it all with a “rope of stout hemp” and ask that he kindly step to the center of the platform.

For all you Bolshevik Weenies© that never served and couldn’t watch…I’ll volunteer to pull the lever. Hell’s bells, I’d put it on Pay-Per-View. Give the money to the charities who actually DO care for our returning HONORABLE veterans.

He is a symbol of all that is bad in this man’s army. An affront to every veteran. Every POW. Every soldier. Colonel Nance, you let down EVERY SINGLE SOLDIER who came home. Especially those who came home UNDER Old Glory.

Hooah.
