The inmates are in charge of the asylum..

It came as a shock to ABC News reporter Diane Sawyer that Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper had no idea of the 12 terror- related arrests in Great Britain on Monday. This important intelligence item was on the 24 hour news programs and was given ample time even on the liberal networks, not to mention all over the internet and even in the newpapers.

In an attempt to cover up the huge mistake, Homeland Security Advisor John Brennan said “I am glad that Jim Clapper is not sitting in front of the TV 24 hours a day and monitoring what is coming out of the media.”

No, you idiot, he has people that are supposed to do that.

Since the people guarding our national security don’t have an idea what their responsibilities are in guarding this nation, I will inform them.

First, any intelligence agency has people monitoring all news services, whether they are network or cable. Also, the heads of all intelligence agencies receives a daily briefing on all intelligence topics, domestic and foreign with updates as needed throughout the day or night. There are teams and sections of each agency that work on nothing else. They would have sent out the proper alerts and notified necessary personnel.

And, since the Brits are our closest ally and we share intelligence with them, that would have been the first item any intelligence agency would have focused on, and probably a lot of personal interaction between analysts in all agencies and across the pond.

This is total incompetence, inexcusable at any level in the government. It shows a lack of organization, a lack of priorities and another example of the ineptitude of the people running this country. Anyone who still feels safe after hearing this report, is a fool or so in love with this administration that their judgement is clouded.  This is a serious lapse in protecting this country and shows that we are at a greater danger than we were before 9/11. The same people who are supposed to be ensuring our safety, are asleep at the switch.

A point of clarification. I am not accusing the intelligence agencies’ personnel. No, the analysts who pore over all the information tirelessly knew exactly what was going on with the arrests. They know all the information that comes in, they act on it and do their jobs on time and properly.  The lapse comes at the very top, the people who make the decisions regarding our national security.

If this had been a Republican administration, a few things would have occurred. First, he would have been fired. No questions asked. Although I hope that a Republican president would have not installed such an incompetent idiot in the first place.

Also, let’s not forget the noble press. Instead of just a mention that the DNI didn’t know of the arrests, there would have been follow-ups on his background, reports that questioned his readiness for the job and probably a outcry for his ouster.

This is a very serious matter. If the DNI didn’t know about this sensitive intelligence matter, I shudder to think what else people in the intelligence community are overlooking.

From my perspective, this hits me right in the solar plexus. This disturbing lapse in the intelligence community is very dangerous to America.

I know there are many ex-intelligence personnel who are probably shaking their heads at this, and people working in the intelligence community alarmed at this lapse.

Both James Clapper and James Brennan should be fired. Brennan should have done his job and not covered for Clapper, but demanded his ouster. Both are unable to protect this country and should be taking out the trash in some liberal themed restaurant, carefully separating the recyclables from the garbage. Then maybe they will learn something about prioritizing.

Morons….

Excellent articulation, Ann Marie, in expressing the incompetent mentality and slipshod workings of the people at the top who make the decisions which affect our national security! This journal entry in Political QRM, along with all your journal entries, cultivates clear thinking on topics and issues which concern us all. If those in charge would think like you, our national security would be in good hands.

Totally enjoying your journal entries! Keep writing!

Thanks, VInce, I appreciate your opinion. I try. I may not please some people, but it was about time I added my voice to all the others who have finally had it with the incompetence in our government. We may not agree on all issues, but I welcome your comments.
