P-QRM #2: UN; GOP Primary Race

Back by popular demand! Well, not really, but Ann Marie and Lou have decided to forge ahead anyway. This week we focus on the UN: just how much this behemoth organization is not only a waste of money, time and great real estate opportunities for America, but also how far they have strayed from their original charter. Also, we continue our discussion on the GOP Presidential primary and voting in the Maine caucus.

Ron Paul’s position is beettr articulated in his recent book Liberty Defined, where the Congressman comments on Abortion within the context of public policy and the U.S. Constitution. The issue relates to the practical limits of what the law can do and is primarily a distinction regarding the proper limits of the federal government. His chapter on Abortion presents a persuasive defense of human life from the moment of conception but includes a classically liberal position on the function of law. The law is entirely dependent on the will of the people [and government] to enforce it. For this reason pro-life laws can only reflect and can never create a pro-life culture. With respect to the rape exception and the day-after pill, Paul takes a legally neutral position to a morally mitigating circumstance where the deliberate killing of conceived life can never be fully known and full knowledge and consent on the part of the victim is significantly impaired.
