Way back in the day when I lived in the “Apartment Deluxe”, (where I lived for nearly ten years), I didn’t have a television. I didn’t feel like I needed one. At least not one that would have cost me thirty dollars a month for the cable hookup. Can’t honestly say that I missed much.
This IS awfully brief and somewhat un-“polished”. It’s more of a “stream-of-consciousness” piece. It is, however, from the heart. In light of the estimated 100-150 K turnout, (as opposed to the thousand or so islamists that showed up for THEIR “million”…) You may or may not know that I worked in the motorcycle industry for
Seriously. Thank you Sen. McCain and Gov. Romney, but no thanks. We need a Conservative. Not a Rino, not a Libertarian. We need a person of character and fortitude…and only on one issue. Our Constitution. People disapproved both of you for your backgrounds and voting records -and rightly so- during your candidacies. People disapproved both
As many of you know, I floundered for quite some time with a way to describe my civic affinity. Thanks to the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Papers sites, I’ve GOT it! I am a Democratic-Republican. Also historically called the “Jeffersonian Republicans”. The party of MANY of our Founders, including such luminaries as Jefferson, Madison
How often do we use the old saw, “A person who doesn’t study history is doomed to repeat it.” ? Well, here’s your history. And it bears repeating. If you’re anything less than hard-core about your history lessons, you’re probably just like me when it comes to “those dang DATES”. I can get
If you have read my requiem for the Republican Party, you know where I’m coming from. If not, go ahead and read it now. I’ll wait. Oh, and by the way, if you voted for Ron Paul last cycle you have no idea what I’m talking about, here. Matter of fact, just go put your
I notice things. Not in a “CSI” way, but ordinary daily “stuff”. Especially when it’s a part of who I am. I cannot hear aircraft in my vicinity without looking up to see what it is. I cannot hear a Harley going by without at least a glance. Same goes for political signs and stickers.
Can I ask a favor of you? Let me backdrop it a bit…John Stossel 1 wrote a piece some time ago about how we, as politically minded individuals, (as well as candidates themselves), have resorted to mudslinging and muck-raking. Carrying it, at times, to lofty…almost ethereal heights…or would that be bottomless-pit-depths? We, as teenagers “back-in-the-day”
Look, I am not prone to “going off the deep end”. I am passionate, though. enough that people tend to think of me as a bit of a “reactionary”. Let me settle that for you, m’kay…I am not. I comment on things after the fact, true enough, but I “see it coming a mile away”
You’ve heard me express, both in person and in podcast, (as well as having read it before in any of my previous essays…) that I hate “both kinds” of music. Country AND Western. Yes, “hate” IS, indeed, a very strong word, but I just can’t get over my abhorrence of “that sound”. I don’t know
